A former Miss America, Mary Ann Mobley Collins has died after a battle with breast cancer
77-year-old Mobley Collins died in Beverly Hills, California on Tuesday, December 9.
She was the first woman from Mississippi to win the pageant and not long after became an actress featuring in movies alongside the “King of Rock and Roll”, Elvis Presley.
Mobley Collins was also a humanitarian who travelled to third world countries such as Cambodia, Somalia and Sudan to make documentaries about the struggles of homeless and starving children.
She is survived by daughters Clancy Collins White and Melissa Collins, son Guy William Collins, sister, Sandra Young, and two grandsons.
